This painting shows the canyon at Canyon Creek at the time of year when the red coloured Kokanee Salmon were heading upstream to spawn. Autumn was approaching, giving a cluster of tamaracks their golden colour. These become the centre of interest in the composition. The turns in the canyon result in a layered view, that has minimal atmospheric perspective due to the regions dryer climate that lacks in humidity. The background behind the canyon is the immense and forested mountain face.
